Carbon steel coils

Carbon steel coils are steel products supplied in coil form from carbon steel (also known as carbon steel). They are a fundamental raw material in industrial production. Their core is an alloy primarily composed of iron and carbon, with a carbon mass fraction typically between 0.0218% and 2.11%. Carbon steel coils mainly refer to thin steel sheets supplied in coils, representing an important form of sheet metal.

According to production process: they are mainly divided into hot-rolled coils and cold-rolled coils.

Hot-rolled coils: These are produced by heating steel billets to a high temperature (above the recrystallization temperature) and then rolling them. The surface usually has iron oxide scale. Their width range is large, reaching 1250-2000 mm.

Cold-rolled coils: These are made from hot-rolled coils, processed at room temperature through pickling, rolling, and other processes. The product thickness is thinner, mostly 0.2-4 mm, with good surface quality and high dimensional accuracy.

Hot-rolled coils: They have the characteristics of high strength, good toughness, excellent processing performance, and relatively low cost, but the surface is rough and the dimensional tolerances are larger. Widely used in load-bearing structural components in building structures, bridges, machinery manufacturing, shipbuilding, energy pipelines, and other fields.

Cold-rolled coils: Advantages include smooth surface, precise dimensions, high strength, and good processability, but production costs are higher. Primarily used in fields requiring high surface quality and dimensional accuracy, such as automotive bodies, precision instruments, appliance housings, and high-end office equipment. The properties of carbon steel coils can be adjusted through heat treatment (such as quenching, tempering, and tempering) to meet the strength, hardness, and toughness requirements of different applications.
